21° Secolo. Design after design
La XXI Esposizione Internazionale della Triennale di Milano si articola in un programma di mostre, eventi, call, festival e convegni diffusi in tutta la città, dalla Triennale alla Fabbrica del Vapore, dal Pirelli HangarBicocca ai Campus del Politecnico, dal Campus della IULM al MUDEC, dal Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci a BASE, dal Palazzo della Permanente all’Area Expo, dal Museo Diocesano fino alla Villa Reale di Monza, sede storica delle prime Mostre Internazionali.
Design After Design cerca di decodificare il nuovo millennio e di individuare i cambiamenti che coinvolgono l'idea stessa di progettualità. La preposizione “after” può essere intesa come “dopo”, in riferimento a una progettualità in quanto fatto posteriore o susseguente al Novecento, oppure come “nonostante” in riferimento a una progettualità che si fa largo, in via antagonista, a dispetto del persistere di condizioni ascrivibili al secolo precedente.
 Design After Design tocca questioni chiave come la nuova “drammaturgia” del progetto, che consiste soprattutto nella sua capacità di confrontarsi con i temi antropologici che la modernità classica ha escluso dalle sue competenze (la morte, il sacro, l'eros, il destino, le tradizioni, la storia); la questione del genere nella progettazione; l'impatto della globalizzazione sul design; le trasformazioni conseguenti la crisi del 2008 e l’arrivo del XXI secolo; la relazione tra città e design; i rapporti tra design e accessibilità delle nuove tecnologie dell'informazione; i rapporti tra design e artigianato.

The 21st International Exhibition of the Triennale di Milano features a program of exhibitions, events, calls, festivals, and conferences spread across the city, from the Triennale to the Fabbrica del Vapore, from the Pirelli HangarBicocca to the Polytechnic campuses, from the IULM campus to the MUDEC, from the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology to BASE, from the Palazzo della Permanente to the Expo Area, from the Diocesan Museum to the Villa Reale of Monza, the historic site of the first International Exhibitions. 21st Century. Design After Design does to decode the new millennium and identify the changes affecting the very idea of ​​design. The preposition "after" can be understood as "after," referring to design as an event occurring after or after the twentieth century, or as "despite," referring to design that emerges, antagonistically, despite the persistence of conditions attributable to the previous century.
21st Century. Design After Design touches on key issues such as the new "dramaturgy" of design, which consists above all in its ability to engage with anthropological themes that classical modernity excluded from its remit (death, the sacred, eros, destiny, traditions, history); the question of gender in design; the impact of globalization on design; the transformations resulting from the 2008 crisis and the arrival of the twenty-first century; the relationship between city and design; the relationship between design and the accessibility of new information technologies; the relationship between design and craftsmanship.
