Le guerre aumentano le disuguaglianze, colpendo i più vulnerabili—bambini, donne e comunità emarginate—e creando ferite che durano per generazioni. La catastrofe umanitaria a Gaza non fa eccezione. Nei 471 giorni trascorsi dall’attacco di Hamas del 7 ottobre 2023 al fragile cessate il fuoco del 19 gennaio 2025, si stima che siano morte circa 48.500 persone: oltre 46.900 palestinesi e 1.600 israeliani secondo le rispettive autorità. Al momento della tregua, la guerra aveva causato quasi l’80% di tutte le vittime registrate nel conflitto tra israeliani e palestinesi a partire dalla prima Intifada del 1987. Il cessate il fuoco è stato interrotto il 18 marzo 2025. L’installazione restituisce questi 471 giorni attraverso colonne verticali di tessuto che scendono dal soffitto—una per ciascun giorno—con lunghezze che corrispondono al numero dei decessi registrati in quella data.

Wars deepen inequalities, disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable—children, women, and marginalized communities—and leaving wounds that last for generations. The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is no exception. In the 471 days from Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023, to the fragile ceasefire on January 19, 2025, approximately 48,500 people are estimated to have died, including over 46,900 Palestinians and 1,600 Israelis, according to the respective authorities. By then, this war had already accounted for nearly 80% of all Israeli-Palestinian war-related deaths since the first Intifada in 1987. The ceasefire collapsed on March 18, 2025. The installation captures these 471 days through vertical fabric columns descending from the ceiling—one for each day, with lengths representing that day’s reported deaths.
